New Position Paper on nutrition care treatment for patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Nice breakdown of different treatment options for feeding patients who may be malnourished. In addition, guidelines are presented for those experiencing food insecurity.
A very practical read on how the nutrition care process can be adapted to reduce infections and manage the workload associated with major COVID-19 outbreaks
One thing I have not seen addressed in this article and what are the safety considerations of placing patients in the prone position for improved oxygenation and nutrition intake. Naturally it does present challenges to nutrient intake. I was on a webinar, where clinicians were able to place patients in the prone position ans still feed enterally. They did say that the risk of regurgitation was less with pump assisted administration vs bolus. I still feel there are some safety issues there to do with regurtitation and aspiration
